First of all maybe you could say how does company Dyno Dynamics borne and began developing dynamometers?

Chris Hodges: My previous business Dynomotive was the leading workshop for quality work and accurate diagnosis in Melbourne, Victoria. At Dynomotive we used an eddy current dynamometer. It had some shortcomings but did a fair job. We could do things in five minutes that took five hours on the water brake and could never be done on an inertia dyno. People came from all over Victoria and interstate (even some from Perth over 3,000 km away in Western Australia) to get their cars (and trucks) “dyno tuned”. Read more

 D.I.Y. air/fuel ratio meter

I’m sure you have seen many air/fuel ratio meters for sale. In many cases this is small gauge with many colored leds. If you have little experience in welding small parts you can make this useful gauge yourself.

D.I.Y. a/f ratio meter budget is incredible small. You will spend only about 7 Euro on main parts. You must buy 10 diode leds (6 red, 2 yellow and 2 green), 1 diode (code: 1N4007), 2 resistors (any kind 2 kohm), chip (code: LM 3914N), some wires and universal plate. If you have any experience in welding electronic parts this easy job won’t take long. You should print electronic scheme (first picture on right top) and weld all parts. I suggest to weld chip first of all and after weld 10 led diodes, wires, resistors and diode. Read more

 Home made electric blower

Electric turbo put on the Dastek dynamometer bench. This is very funny experiment with Ford Mondeo and home made electric forced induction. Results are more than impressive!

Idea of this experiment came from some readings on the web. I used to see many ads advertising “magic” electric turbos, chargers, spiral stuff and etc. It’s always mystery if that stuff works, because no magazine or any serious tuning company talks about this kind of equipment. Read more
