Toyota Supra MK III is very famous and popular car even today. Third evolution of this Japan super car is very successful. It is cheep to buy, easy to tune and very fun to drive.
7MGTE engine is very strong and in good hands it will produce loads of power and will be durable enough to drive it every day. Perfect example is this black power plant. It has dyno approved 450 Hp and it is driving every day all year long.
Even completely stock engine can produce such power output. What was improved in this car? Well, at the beginning free flow 76 mm exhaust system was installed. Second step – UNICHIP “piggy-back” computer. After second step standard 235 HP power was boosted to 330 Hp.
It was clear that using stock fuel pump it’s impossible to achieve more, so fuel pump was upgraded, also racing fuel regulator was added. After remapping Unichip with current setup 360 Hp @ 0.9 Bar boost was recorded.
To increase power a little more wet nitrous system was added. With nitrous activated power instantly increases to 450 Hp.
The engine is completely stock! The only thing not holding increased power was clutch. Replacing it with anything stronger fixes problem for a long time.
Toyota Supra MK III is very heavy car and setting track records is sometimes impossible, but remember this is not a race car. You won’t see MK III at profi circuit racing anymore, because it’s too old, but for weekend racer it’s very good car.
On the web huge amount companies offer loads of performance parts for this “dream car”, but as we can see many expensive upgrades are not necessary. A wise enough tuner can almost double the stock power output without buying very expensive parts.
